Porcelain Veneers

Troy Porcelain Veneers Dentists

Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin, tooth-colored “shells'' or coverings that are placed over the outside of the tooth by our Troy cosmetic dentists. It is most common to have veneers applied to teeth that are visible when talking or smiling, i.e., teeth in the front of the mouth.

Here’s what else you need to know about veneers

Reasons for Veneers

Patients may consider the placement of porcelain veneers if their teeth are:

  • Chipped
  • Stained
  • Gapped
  • Worn (enamel)
  • Not properly aligned or irregularly shaped

Before moving forward with the procedure, our veneers dentists in Troy want all interested patients to know that this process is irreversible. That’s because once a portion of your natural tooth enamel is removed, it doesn’t grow back. For this reason alone, we want you to be sure of your decision.

Procedure Details

The veneers procedure involves two trips to our Troy dental office. This is due to the fact that the veneers are fabricated at a dental laboratory. During your initial appointment, your teeth will be prepared, impressions will be taken, and your teeth will be given a temporary covering.

On average, it takes about 2-3 weeks for your new veneers to return from the laboratory, at which time the covering is removed and the veneers are bonded to your teeth by our dentists. These permanent veneers are made from strong porcelain or pressed ceramic and are very aesthetically pleasing.
